Andrea Testi

Andrea Testi was born in Trieste (Italy) on April 16, 1962. He is married with one child.

In March 1987, he graduated with a laurea “cum laude” in Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (Italy), with a thesis in the field of high energy physics. He continued this activity after the laurea, with the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare and as research fellow at the Institut Laue Langevin in Grenoble (France)

He served his military duty as Lieutenant in the Italian Navy.

In 1989, he started working for CISE SpA, a company active in the field of applied research owned by ENEL, the main Italian electricity company.

In 1990, he joined ABB Sae Sadelmi, an Engineering and Contracting company of the Asea Brown Bovery group. In 1992, he became the Chief Engineering Coordinator for a major power project in Abu Dhabi (UAE), where he was resident in 1995, to follow as head of the local Engineering Dept. the final stages of the design construction and commissioning of the plant.

In 1998, after a short experience as Project Manager in Italferr - an engineering company belonging to the Italian railway company - he joined Techint SpA as Project Director for a Waste-to-Energy project, realized under a Project Financing scheme. Later on, he became Managing Director of the Project Company, which had been acquired by Sondel SpA, an IPP company in which he took over the responsibility of Director, International Development.

In 2001, he started working for Enel, initially as Ηead of Development for Enel Generation and later as Ηead of International Business Development for Enel SpA. In this capacity, he has led several acquisition and development activities, including a major acquisition of an international power generation company with more than 8.000 MW of hydro, thermal and nuclear power generation assets. He was also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of an Enel Joint Venture Company, in Bulgaria.

In 2006 Andrea Testi joined Edison, the largest Italian private utility, as Ηead of International Development and, since 2008, as Director of the International Power business unit. In 2015, he continued his career in Paris (France) at the International Division of Èlectricitè de France (EDF), which had become Edison's controlling shareholder, as Vice President – Southern Europe and, since 2016, as Vice President – Generation Development and Services, Europe.

Mr Testi has been directly managing the development and operation of Edison’s power production activities in Greece. Until June 2012, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of ELPEDISON Power S.A. and until August 2018, Member of the Board of Directors of ELPEDISON S.A. In September 2018, he has been appointed as Executive Chairman of the Company.

In the course of his career, he has also held various institutional positions, including Chairman of the Electricity Committee of OME - Observatoire Méditerranéen de l’Energie, a non-profit association based in Paris, with the mission to promote cooperation among major energy companies in the Mediterranean and Vice-chairman of Res4Med, an Association based in Rome, with the mission to promote renewable energy sources and to analyze the conditions for integrated electricity markets in the Mediterranean area.
